Publisher’s Blurb:
Rise of the Third Army”!
• Earth’s new Green Lantern battles The Justice League!
• Meanwhile, The Guardians begin their final step in the destruction of the Lanterns by releasing the first of the Third Army soldiers!

Reviewer’s Comments:
Simon Baz is an enemy of the United States. President Obama is now working hand in foot with Amanda Waller to track this supposed terrorist down, and they will not stop until they find him. Meanwhile for Mr. Baz himself, things aren’t that simple.

He wakes up in the Florida Keys after the events of the zero issue. He receives a message from Hal and Sinestro warning Simon to stop the Guardians but he is completely oblivious to what this means. All he’s concerned about now is finding out who had the bomb in the back of the car he stole to clear his name. Not only that but he is concerned about his family including his sister Sira in a more recognizable Dearborn. She works at the Secretary of State which I have passed by (and can confirm its authentic), and she is let go because of the controversy surrounding Simon. He explains it to her upon his return but trouble awaits him as he tries to figure this all out….. Justice League trouble.

Geoff Johns does a nice job following up on beats from the previous zero issue with the introduction of Baz. While I still question some of his decisions early on as whether factual or not, it does not matter now as the character is starting to come around more. Johns has a story, and it should be an interesting ride.

Doug Mahnke continues to do the best work of his career. While it’s not as grand as some prior stuff he’s done, this smaller narrative is really showing the diversity of his design.

With these two working together, Green Lantern continues to be worth its green……
