Dirk Manning’s Write or Wrong collectedWritten by StephenJondrew on Aug 13, 2012Filed in: Comic Book News | No Comments »
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dirk Manning brings WRITE OR WRONG to print in new book Write Or Wrong: A Writer’s Guide To Creating Comics to be released in October from Transfuzion Publishing. August 2012 – For over five years Dirk Manning’s popular online column Write or Wrong has provided inspiration, motivation and advice to aspiring writers looking for guidance about how to effectively network with artists, hone their craft in order to create comics. This October, for the first time ever, Manning is culling many of the early columns together into a collected book edition titled Write or Wrong: A Writer’s Guide to Creating Comics through Transfuzion Publishing. “Readers have been asking me for years if and when I was going to collect the Write or Wrong columns into a book,” Manning explained. “Especially the early ones, in which I really delve into the nuts-and-bolts of making that transition from being someone who knows how to write scripts to someone who is actually out there working with artists and creating comics.” “I’ve spent the last few years focusing on primarily on my own comic work – including getting a lot of it released in print – and while I’ve wanted to get Write or Wrong in print, too… I was looking for the right publisher to work with on the project, as the idea of a Write or Wrong book is a very personal and important one both to me and the people who’ve been waiting for it. Well, when I came in contact with Transfuzion Publishing, I knew I found a home for the book and immediately began making preparations to release a collection of the earlier columns in print.” Transfuzion Publisher Gary Reed stated, “a book like this is perfect for so many aspiring writers looking to understand the comics market. As a publisher and a writer, I am constantly asked for advice on how to break into the comic business as a writer. It will be great to be able to point them to this book.” For the book, Manning is going back through every column and editing/revising them for print to make sure the information is as up-to-date and as relevant as possible for readers. Manning continued, stressing “my goal with this Write or Wrong print collection of the columns is to make it a genuine ‘Bible’ for writers who want guidance in helping them create comics. This is not a book that will just deal with how to write scripts or make your dialogue ‘punchier.’ Rather, this is a book that anyone who wants to create comics can pick up and use as a field-guide to help them make it happen.” Write or Wrong: A Writer’s Guide to Creating Comics by Dirk Manning will be available this October from Transfuzion Publishing, and will be available through Diamond comics, order # AUG121318. It retails for $16.99 and will be a minimum of 156 pages. About Dirk Manning: Dirk Manning launched his comic career with online comics before many people heard about online comics. Following a path that he outlines in his upcoming book, Write or Wrong: A Writer’s Guide to Creating Comics, Dirk has continued with his online projects such as Tales of Mr. Rhee and Love Stories about Death as well as moving into print with his three graphic novels of Nightmare World from Image Comics. About Transfuzion Publishing: Transfuzion is a publishing house focusing on creator owned books and as on August, 2012, has released 50 graphic novels. Although initially, Transfuzion featured compilations of previously published material, in the last year, they have moved into presenting all new material also. With such titles as Mike Carey and Michael Gaydos’ Inferno, The Rocky Horror Picture Show collection, Wayne VanSant’s Days of Darkness, and other titles, the profile of ?Transfuzion has risen considerably in the last few months. |
