The Superbowl of Comic Conventions- Second Quarter | |||||

So did I learn my lesson from my first day at the largest convention that I’ve ever attended? Did the Chicago Bears 2011 season fall apart after Jay Culter went down with an injury? Yes on both counts. With the lessons learned from Day 1, on today’s agenda involved little to no time spent waiting in lines for panels, and instead I spent that free time snipping pictures, standing in the longest Starbucks line in the history of humanity, attempting to get free swag, and oh yeah, standing in lines trying to play demos of whatever video games were on display (except for the Nintendo 3DS, damn thing hurts my eyes just looking at it). So as Day 2 goes, and thanks to technology (i.e., Facebook), I was able to catch up with an old college buddy, Frank. Now a little background for the viewers at home, back back back in 2002 I attended my very first comic convention (as a volunteer), Wizard World Chicago, and you can guess who was with me… yeah that’s right, Frank. Anyway, to make a long story short, for that four day convention Frank and I hit the convention floor and panel rooms hard. And as the story goes I got my first taste of the con lifestyle and indeed I wanted more, and also as lucky would have it I was able to get a sketch of Kang the Conqueror from one of my favorite artist, George Perez. Anyway that was then and as for the events of Day 2 are concerned I believe I was able to do close to 75% of things I wanted to on the convention floor. Hell, bring this back to the football theme of sorts, I was almost pancaked by one of Gene Simmons (from Kiss fame) lead blockers, aka his four man security detail. So that’s my Day 2 in a nut shell and trust me this second day at this convention has been a wild and exciting ried. I now look forward to all the trouble and fun that Frank and I will most likely be getting into on Day 3.
