Fanboy Buzz – Episode #071 - Comic Book Podcasts

Created on September 3, 2011 and written by
Category: Fanboy Buzz - Comic Book Podcasts

We start of Episode 71 with a record-sucking news section. While Jason and Steve tell us about some actual news including information on the Skrulls being in the new Avengers game AND information on a Deadman TV show, JS and Stephen give us some not so accurate news about the ‘upcoming’ Locke & Key TV show and how the Justice League #1 was pirated online ‘only’ two hours before actual lunch. After that mess of a section we’ll clean ourselves back up and go into a special edition of Steve’s Comic Collector Live Comic of the week where he talks about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, JS will give us another page in the book that he calls Lemme Arc You This, Stephen goes for the tie-breaker in Stephen Supports Sucky Comics with a review on Flashpoint Lois Lane and the Resistance #3 and Jason does his Rapid Fire Reviews. In Issue to Issue we’ll talk about Chew #20, Warehouse 13 #1 and FF#8. We’ll also feature some more Fanboy Feedback and we’ll actually get some Creator Feedback on digital comics (featuring comments from folks such as Rob Liefeld, Mark Millar, Jimmy Palmiotti, Ed Brubaker and more!) As always you can call us at 239-244-2899 and leave us a message.

See JS’s picture of the end of torrented comic comes up as a forbidden page. “You don’t have permission to access /wp-content/uploads/2011/08/credit.jpg on this server.”

I greatly enjoy the new TMNT, including the new origin story. (I started following TMNT when the cartoon first came out)

Yes, the digital download of Justice League was $3.99. I’ve been arguing with Jim Lee on Twitter about how I think that is too damn much money for a digital book. Jason, yes, I bought it digitally. *Waits for him to slap me.* I agree with everything Stephen said about the price point on the digital downloads. LOL

I wouldn’t say nobody wanted DC to reboot their universe. Personally I don’t mind. I think it gives it a chance to have a fresh start. I even like the costumes they’re using. I just hope they don’t muddy the new continuity that they establish down the line. I’m also unsure about how they’re going to keep certain parts of the Green Lantern mythos but not most of the rest of the DC continuity.

Steve, I think driving all day for comics with your fiance sounds like good quality time to me. (My wife might disagree though!)

@Jeff – I think that with TURTLES…it works. Here you have two creators that are on opposite sides of the country and have had differences in the past. Fans just want a GOOD STARTING POINT, and in this case, the reboot works. Glad you liked it!

@Scott – To hear the fellas talk, you’d think I rented a plane and flew out of state to get my copies! BTW, that Hastings variant I snagged? $20-$40 secondary market price now. I’ve even seen the 1:25 variant break over $40. Thankfully, I’ve got a girl that loves being geeky like me. Also, buying her dinner for the drive never hurts either ;)
